DO MORE WITH A ROLL-OFF PARTS ISO SUBFRAME

Meagan Daugherty

Did you know, according to Integrated Equipment Sales, out of the 17 million ISO/Shipping Containers in existence worldwide, only 6 million are being used? That means there are nearly 11 million containers sitting stagnant in shipping yards. Originally used to transport heavy equipment, bulk items, and other products overseas, some people have gotten creative and transformed shipping containers into mobile offices, personal storage containers, and even homes. Why not apply that creativity to your business?

With steel pricing continuously increasing and availability decreasing, business owners who utilize roll-off trucks to run their operations are looking for alternatives to purchasing new roll-off container. Many of them began purchasing used containers, modifying them to fit with their roll-off system. Some would pay to get their containers refurbished – a few of them using the Roll-Off Parts Refurbishment Program, where they handle the stress and the mess of restoring worn down or damaged containers – so they could return to like-new condition and getting back on the road.

More recently, ISO/Shipping Containers have been looked at as an alternative to standard roll-offs. They are readily available and relatively inexpensive in today’s market. There is still one question that remains, however. How can these containers be utilized in a roll-off business?

A roll-off subframe is an engineered frame design that is used to make non-roll-off bodies or equipment compatible with roll-off trucks. Sometimes called skids, rail frames and long rails, these structures are the base for whatever you want to haul with your roll-off truck. There are different subframe styles available, allowing you to choose the solution that fits your needs. While a Standard Subframe is ideal to mount specialized equipment, therefore allowing them to be compatible with a roll-off, an ISO Subframe is designed specifically for using ISO shipping containers on roll-off trucks.

ISO Subframes are manufactured in 20’ lengths with 2″ x 8” tubing long rails. They can be customized to work with a variety of roll-off systems, including cable style, hooklift style (36”, 54”, or 62” bail heights), or combo style (cable and hooklift or dual 52” and 62” hooks). This ready-to-install and exclusive design is equipped with ISO twist lock assemblies on each corner that takes less than a minute to engage. With just a counter-clockwise rotation on the handles, all four of the twist lock assemblies lock in place and the container is ready for operation.
